Ah summer. Love the summer for the parks and the gorgeous weather. Ella is sliding down slides and swinging on swings. I can't believe how fast she's growing. She's got a personality. She loves to dance. Anyhow, gotta go enjoy the summer!

I guess it's time to write down my thoughts. It's been almost 3 months since I've had any sense of regularity in my life. Things move fast these days, in fact, it feels like stop motion photography where that plant grows in front of your eyes, or the clouds move at ten times the speed. That's exactly how it feels. I can see it, I can feel it, but someone has pressed the fastforward button and I HAVE to slow down..or else by the time I'm fifty. haha I've heard that too many times from the most random people. Ella is one of those people that if she could talk she'd tell me something like, "don't stop enjoying the things you love to do, because by the time your fifty you'll regret it if you did."

And I won't.

Ella May is two months old. She is so beautiful. Sara and I have been bringing her out for promenades and have been stopped on numerous occasions by passersby who were compelled to admire the little one. All I'm thinking is, "wow, I created this thing." What a crazy thought. Anyways, I am adapting well into parenthood. Sara is an amazing mother, I can see where the term 'maternal instinct' comes from now. Sara has developed a heightened sense of smell (for poopy and wet diapers) and sound (for the different types of cries). She's become wonderwoman reincarnated. She can hear when I'm on facebook. She can tell when I've been smoking cigarettes.

Baby Ella is starting to smile. Every morning I wake up to the biggest smile from this small person. It makes me happy. She loves her new automatic swing that Sara and I bought her. It's the perfect activity that gives Sara and I that 15 minutes of freedom to do whatever we want. For those who have babies, get one of these automatic swings. $100 well spent.

Fatherhood is amazing. I've never been really good at taking care of things, in fact, I never really took good care of myself. I have been less than exceptional at keeping my plants healthy and green. My goldfish only ever lasted a few weeks before they bellied up. Food is left to rot in my fridge for months. Dadhood is so different. I am feeling good about it. There are a few things - Sleepless nights - it's not a myth, nor is it a joke. This is serious stuff. I wake up feeling like a zombie. Ughh. Diapers are costly and are thrown in the garbage every couple of hours. Let me tell you something though. I would not trade her in for even a moment of the purest comatose sleep. She is my baby girl, the reason I stay up all night.

She's here! Finally here. Ella is the most angelic being on the planet. I can't believe how beautiful she is. It was a long and hard road in the labour room. After hours of intensely painful contractions, Ella was born by the knife - yes, a cesarean section. She came out with her eyes wide open, quiet as a mouse. Sara was intently talking to me while the surgeons cut through her tummy. Without any fear in her eyes, she kept telling me to narrate the operation and to just keep watching. After no more than 20 minutes, Ella came out and weighed in at 7 pounds 9 ounces!

So I'm a daddy now and I've got two beautiful girls in my life - Sara and Ella.

One big happy family. Welcome home baby!

I'm on high alert. The baby's due date is on the 9th. My cell phone has become a part of me now, like an extra organ or something. If I had a sixth sense, my cell phone is it. Anyhow, Baby Ella is just around the corner...can't wait to meet her.

Hello People. I don't think I have anything important or interesting to say, but I'm hoping that people pick up on this journal that I'm attempting to be consistent with. So instead of writing about my day, I am going to challenge everyone. I dare you to pick up the phone and call someone that you haven't talked to in a while especially someone you really care about or a person that you had a falling out with but want to reaquaint yourself with. Why? Because, you should.

I am the bass player of this five piece outfit. I was born on June 1st, 1978 in Brockville, Ontario. I'm soon going to be a father of a girl. That will be the coolest thing in the world. Her mom and I can't wait to meet her. Here's a picture of her at 4 months.

Her name is Ella May. She is the first Bourbon Baby of the gang. Anyhow, we've got another month to wait!
